BUILD
Building Understanding Integrity Leadership Dedication
The goal of Buildings' BUILD program is to hold Borough Commissioners, Unit Directors and Supervisors directly accountable for their area of responsibility by tracking and evaluating performance indicators. The BUILD system collects over 100 indicators on a real-time basis focusing on administration, finance and customer service. The BUILD program is an integral component of the Department's efforts to achieve and implement the standards and recommendations outlined in the report of the Mayor's Task Force Examining Operations of the Buildings Department. The BUILD program is the agency's version of the Citywide Accountability Program. The files below, in Adobe® Acrobat® format, contain a select group of these monthly indicators. Each file is 39 kb in size. The table below contains definitions for each of the selected indicators.
BUILD meetings are held once every month. Representatives from each Borough Office, the Electrical Division, Central Inspections Division, Enforcement Division, Licensing Division, Cranes & Derricks Division, as well as other units appear to discuss the prior month's performance, with particular emphasis on trends and variances. The Director of each support and administrative unit (Human Resources, Fiscal / Budget, General Services, Communications, Customer Service, Training, Information Technology, and Internal Audits & Discipline) are also attend to address specific areas of concern as they arise. The Program Management and Analysis (PMA) Division oversees the integrity of the data collected, and the Quality Assurance (QA) Unit performs agency-wide analysis of trends and prepares questions to be answered by unit and division heads. PMA and QA coordinate follow-up on issues identified at BUILD meetings, as well as presentations on department initiatives.
