Subject:

Metering of Large Natural Gas Usage

Effective:

Purpose:

To permit the installation of elevated pressure gas meters on the up stream side of the gas regulator for a specific category of gas usage.

Section P115.2 and P115.4 of RS 16

Specifics:

Requirements:

For gas supplies of 2000 cubic feet per hour (CFH) (944 L/min) or more at pressures in excess of 1/2 psig (3.45 kPa), a rotary or turbine gas meter may be installed on the up stream side of the gas reglator, provided all applicable requirements of RS 16 are complied with.

Such installations shall be performed only when required due to a pratical difficulty regarding placement of the gas meter downstream of the regulator and shall be outdoors.

The "meter piping" shall be deemed to extend up to the outlet of the regulator, and shall be tested and inspected by the utility company.
