SUPPORT THE HOMELESS TRUST FUND

A donation to the Homeless Trust Fund helps improve the quality of life for thousands of families currently experiencing homelessness. Your donations go directly to shelters, which use the funds to buy clothing, gifts, board games, and sports equipment. The Fund also helps DHS sponsor special events, such as trips to amusement parks, the circus, and baseball games. Donations may be earmarked for specific shelters. Please contact:

DHS OFFICE OF SPECIAL EVENTS

By bringing generous corporations together with our clients, the Office of Special Events plays an integral role in improving the quality of life in the shelters. Each year, the Office sponsors over 550 events, involving more than 18,000 clients of all ages. Organizations and individuals have in the past donated children’s toys and new and gently-used clothing, as well as tickets to theater performances, cultural celebrations, sporting events and musical concerts. The Office also works with contributors and shelters to develop one-time and repeated events both on and off facility grounds.

FURNISH-A-FUTURE PROGRAM

Do you have gently used furniture? Are your closets full of household items you don't use anymore? Please don't throw them away! The Furnish-A-Future Program, run by the Partnership for the Homeless, collects gently used furniture and household items for clients moving out of shelter and into their own, unfurnished apartments. The program accepts household appliances and furniture for every room. Please contact:

BARBARA S. KLEIMAN FUND

Barbara S. Kleiman, a former Assistant Commissioner at DHS, devoted her life to helping homeless New Yorkers. After her untimely passing, the Barbara S. Kleiman Scholarship Fund was established to offer college or vocational scholarships to those who have overcome long histories of addiction and homelessness. Run by the non-profit Community Meditation Services, the Fund also presents an annual service award that honors exceptional counselors and case workers. The Fund accepts donations. Please contact:
