About DHS
Diversity & Equal Opportunity Affairs

DHS' Office of Diversity & Equal Opportunity Affairs (DEOA) is responsible for assisting Commissioner Gilbert Taylor in promoting diversity within the agency and implementing the City's Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policies and standards.

In assisting Commissioner Taylor to implement the City's EEO policies, the agency’s DEOA office handles requests for reasonable accommodations and any complaints of discrimination filed by DHS employees, job applicants, and clients. Furthermore, the office aims to incorporate diversity into the agency’s day-to-day endeavors, as it delivers sound, culturally sensitive and relevant services to New Yorkers.
