Age in Action

The Department is looking forward to seeing you on Thursday, May 8 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens for Age in Action 2008. The annual, free event celebrates Older Americans Month. It also brings together more than 10,000 older New Yorkers in celebration of healthy and creative aging.

The event is free and open to anyone over the age of 60, their caregivers and family members. To learn more about the event read the Commissioner's introductory letter here.

First, Tell Us You Are Attending

If you are the leader or coordinator of your group (senior center director, tenant association president, etc.) and bringing seniors, please fill out this form and fax it back to the Department. You do not need to fill out this form if you are an individual attending the event.

Second, Sign Up to Participate!

Age in Action celebrates the talents of New York's 1.3 million seniors. This event can't happen without your participation. Age in Action has a dance contest, a tech café, an art gallery and craft area, and even trolley rides to name a few. But we need to know that you are interested by registering for each event. Fill out the pertinent information on the registration sheets below and fax it back to the number on the sheet. Please understand that we try to accommodate all requests, but in some cases there is limited space or time.

Of course, there are other ways to participate that do not require pre-registration. Age in Action's Community Resources and Healthy Aging area has different health screenings. You could peruse the art gallery and craft tables or cheer on your favorite team in the dance contest.

Learn more and register.
