Senior Center Cultural Initiative (SCCI)

Call for Applications! Senior Center Cultural Initiative (SCCI)

The Department for the Aging, in partnership with the Department of Cultural Affairs and the City Council, is pleased to announce the first year of the Senior Center Cultural Initiative. (SCCI)

The goal of the Senior Center Cultural Initiative is to bring the breadth of cultural experiences that New York City has to offer, directly to the older adults attending senior center programs throughout the City. In Fiscal Year 2008, a total of $1.1 million in funding is available for this exciting new initiative.

Proposals will be considered for every cultural discipline and from every area of the City. Each proposal must offer a cultural project of recognized quality for older adults, in collaboration with an eligible senior center program. The funded services can be as diverse as the cultural organizations providing them, but they will all have a common commitment to enhancing senior center programming for older adults. The cultural services must be delivered between January 14, 2008 and June 30, 2008, the end of the City fiscal year.

Additional requirements can be found in the attached guidelines and application form, and further inquiries may be sent to culture@aging.nyc.gov.

Once again, thank you for your interest. We eagerly anticipate your unique cultural and artistic contributions that will enrich the lives of our City’s older adults.

The deadline for applications is 5:00PM, Wednesday, December 12, 2007.

The Department of Cultural Affairs and the Department for the Aging will hold two (2) pre-proposal conferences at the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, Room 209.
