Leak Notification – Sign Up Today


DEP is pleased to announce that the Leak Notification Program has been expanded to include customizable leak parameters for tax class 2 properties (four-family homes and larger).

The Leak Notification Program is a new initiative that allows DEP to proactively alert customers to potential water leaks on their property. The program gives customers the opportunity to sign up online to receive email notifications when their water use increases significantly over a period of several days, enabling homeowners to quickly respond to potential leaks and fix them before they become a serious billing problem.

Customers enrolled in our Leak Notification Program will receive an email from DEP if their water usage triples for five consecutive days.

In order to enroll in our leak notification program:

  • You must own a tax class 1 property (one-, two-, or three-family home) or tax class 2 property (four-family homes and larger).
  • Your property must have an Automated Meter Reading (AMR) device installed.

Follow these simple steps to sign up for leak notification:

  1. Click on the blue My DEP Account button at the top of this page.
  2. If you do not have an online account with DEP, just complete the simple registration process and login with your new user ID and password.
  3. Once you have logged in to My DEP Account, click on the Enroll for Services tab at the top of the home page.
  4. Click the Leak Notification link at the top of the page and then mark the box next to each account you would like to enroll in the leak notification program.
  5. Tax class 2 property owners can take advantage of our new customizable leak parameters by editing the values in each column
  6. Then click the Update button toward the bottom of your screen. You will receive an email confirming your enrollment in the leak notification program.

Once you have registered, DEP will send you email notifications whenever we notice unusual spikes in your water usage that could indicate a leak.
