Notice
of Rescheduled Public Hearing to Receive Comments on the Draft Environmental
Impact Statement for the Proposed Catskill/Delaware Ultraviolet Light
Disinfection Facility Project CEQR No. 04DEP050U
The New York City Department of Environmental Protection (NYCDEP) proposes
to design, construct, and place into operation an Ultraviolet Light (UV)
Disinfection Facility (“UV Facility”) for the Catskill/Delaware
Water Supply System. The project is being proposed to meet the water
supply needs of the City of New York (City) and lower Westchester County
and to comply with state and federal drinking water standards. The introduction
of this additional disinfection “barrier” would significantly
enhance the City’s water supply protection program. The UV Facility
would be constructed on City-owned property at Eastview within the Towns
of Mount Pleasant and Greenburgh, in Westchester County, New York.
The NYCDEP intends to hold a public hearing to receive public comments
on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (Draft EIS) for the proposed
UV Facility project. The Draft EIS was released publicly on May 31, 2004
and is available for review at repositories in all involved localities
and on CD-ROM, upon written request. The Draft EIS Notice of Completion
with Executive Summary may be reviewed on the NYCDEP website at http://www.nyc.gov/dep.
