Portion of Route 28A near Ashokan Reservoir to be closed on Nov. 3
Eight-hour closure planned for culvert installation to improve roadside drainage
Date:
Thursday, Nov. 3
Time:
8am–4pm
Location:
Route 28A near the Marbletown-Hurley town line
What:
The New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) announced that it will close an approximately 5-mile stretch of Route 28A on Nov. 3 to allow for the safe installation of a 16-inch culvert to improve roadside drainage near the Marbletown-Hurley town line. The roadway will be closed from approximately 8 a.m.-4 p.m. so that work crews can safely excavate, install the culvert, and restore the roadway. Traffic on either side of the work zone will be detoured along Spillway Road and Stone Church Road. Local traffic will be allowed past the detours and up to the work zone.
Local elected officials, schools, police, fire and other emergency responders have been informed of the temporary closure. Signs will be posted along Route 28A this week to inform local motorists of the closure. DEP owns and maintains 57 bridges and 99 miles of road, including Route 28A, in the watershed.
