ROAD WORK ADVISORY

Department of Environmental Protection To Repair Culvert on Route 28A Near Ashokan Reservoir

What

The New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) on Tuesday, July 28, will begin repair work on a culvert that carries an unnamed tributary under Route 28A near Ashokan Reservoir. The project is expected to take five to seven weeks to complete.

During that time, one lane will be closed to traffic to ensure the safety of construction workers and motorists. Temporary traffic signals will be in place at both ends of the work site, and flaggers will periodically direct traffic. The stretch of highway affected by this lane closure is located roughly one-quarter mile west of the intersection of Route 28A and Samsonville Road.

Motorists are asked to drive cautiously through this area while the work is ongoing.

The century-old culvert will be lined with a steel pipe, and a new concrete headwall will be installed. As part of the repair project, a new guiderail will also be installed at this location.
