3660 Jerome Avenue, Bronx, New York
(Last stop on Lexington #4 train to Woodlawn Avenue Station)

Event:

DEP Project Managers and contractors will be in attendance to discuss the Croton Water Treatment plant project.  A presentation will be made to seminar participants to help them learn how to respond to request for proposals to work on DEP projects and to understand how to work within City guidelines on city sponsored projects.

The seminar will help businesses obtain knowledge about how to how to prepare winning bids.  Subjects covered will include tips on successful estimating; understanding how to develop pricing; understanding problems faced by contractors; how large construction firms operate; and information about Minority-and Women-Owned Business Enterprises.

DEP received a 2006 award from the Small Business Services Department (SBS) for it’s success as “one of the City’s most dedicated City agencies when it come to ensuring equal access to Minority-and Women-owned Business enterprises (M/WBEs).”  DEP’s Contracting Office of Marketing and Outreach works with many certified M/WBEs to educate them about the kinds of items DEP procures and works with them to ensure they understand how to successfully bid.  The agency’s M/WBEs program more than doubled in July 2006 compared to the same period last year.

DEP staff from the Office of Marketing and Outreach, as well as the Croton filter plant contract manager and resident engineer; SBS Director of Capacity Building, and the Department of Parks & Recreation will be represented at the session.  The Parks Department is responsible rebuilding and refurbishing Bronx parks and recreational areas.

The seminar is free of charge and space is limited.  For further information and to register for the training session, call the Croton Filter Outreach Office at (718) 231-8470.
