Announces Hydrant Flushing Program in Cambria Heights Section
of Queens
DEP announced today that it will begin a water distribution maintenance
program on Monday, March 28, 2005 in the Cambria Heights section
of Queens. Hydrants within the following boundaries will be flushed
over a period of several weeks. The program is expected to run
through April 14, 2005.
- North Conduit Avenue /Southern State Parkway
- Laurelton Parkway/Cross Island Parkway
- Hempstead Avenue
- Springfield Boulevard/Francis Lewis Boulevard
This operation is part of a regularly scheduled maintenance program.
In order to cause as little disruption as possible, DEP will, weather
permitting, activate the flushing operation during the evening
and night shifts between 8 pm and midnight . DEP has notified community
boards, hospitals, schools and other institutions in the area about
this activity.
Residences and businesses located in or near the boundaries may
experience discolored water and or low pressure at various times.
