DEP
Announces Watershed Recreation Newsletter
New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Christopher
O. Ward announced today that the first issue of the DEP’s Watershed
Recreation newsletter will arrive in mailboxes across the watershed and
metropolitan area this month. The bi-annual newsletter will be sent to
all 57,000 DEP Access Permit holders and can also be viewed on the DEP’s
Web site at nyc.gov/watershedrecreation.
“This is one way that the DEP communicates with people who use
watershed lands to let them know about recreation opportunities and policies
for protecting the water supply,” said Commissioner Ward. “Through
the newsletter people will receive updates on seasonal recreation activities
and new developments directly from the DEP.”
This spring’s newsletter features information on recent changes
to the Access Permit system, articles on the new Filtration Avoidance
Determination and activities at the Bureau of Water Supply, and a report
on the 2002 deer hunting season. Contact information for the Access Permit
Office, Land Management Offices and the DEP Police is provided as well.
The eight-page newsletter is printed in full color, and will be published
in March and August each year to coincide with the opening of fishing
and hunting seasons.
