Women's History Month –
Rosalyn Guishard-King
Rosalyn Guishard-King has pursued a diverse and fascinating career. She was raised on the Caribbean island of St. Kitts and, after graduating from St. Theresa’s Convent High School, immigrated to New York City, where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Investment from Bernard Baruch College. Her degree first led her to Bradford Securities Corporation where she worked as a Financial Analyst, and then to Florida, where she worked as a real estate agent for a major developer. In Florida, she became an Associate Broker, responsible for recruiting local real estate companies for joint investments in the region.
In 1986, Rosalyn joined DEP and has held several positions since, moving from Principal Administrative Associate to Chief of the Bureau of Wastewater Treatment’s Engineering Services Section. In this capacity, she manages the Bureau’s Environmental Health and Safety Program as well as capital and expense budget contracts.
Throughout her varied career, Rosalyn has followed the words of her high school teacher and mentor, Sister Ambrose: “May tomorrow find us farther than today.” Echoing these sentiments, Rosalyn advises future generations to “work hard, embrace learning, value, respect and preserve family and continually strive to improve one’s life.” Outside of work, Rosalyn enjoys reading, attending tennis and basketball tournaments, and traveling with her husband Aufranc and her daughter Simone.
