Staten Island Bluebelt Cleanup

thumbnail

The Staten Island Bluebelt is an award winning stormwater management system for approximately one-third of Staten Island’s land area. Unfortunately, these vital wetlands were heavily littered with debris in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, and they need your help in restoring them to their natural beauty.

The New York City Department of Environmental Protection is organizing Bluebelt volunteer cleanup events on Staten Island in the Midland Beach area. The volunteer dates are listed below:

  • Saturday, January 19 from 9:30am – 1:30pm
  • Saturday, January 26 from 9:30am – 1:30pm Cancelled due to inclement weather
  • Saturday, February 9 from 9:30am – 1:00pm Cancelled due to inclement weather
  • Saturday, February 23 from 9:30am – 1:00pm Cancelled due to inclement weather
  • Saturday, March 16 from 9:30am – 1:00pm Registration full
  • Saturday, March 30 from 9:30am – 1:00pm
  • Saturday, April 6 from 9:30am – 1:00pm

If you wish to participate in this important effort, please email your RSVP to DEPVolunteerDay@dep.nyc.gov. Be sure to indicate your preferred date(s). You will receive a confirmation email with complete event details.
