Program Introduction

This project was undertaken in connection with the settlement of an enforcement action taken by New York State and DEC for violations of New York State law and DEC regulations.

The Gowanus and Flushing Watershed Initiative (GFWI) has a total of $2,900,000 available for stormwater projects, including Low Impact Development (LID) initiatives, to address CSO reductions and attenuate urban stormwater runoff within the subject watersheds.  These projects will divert runoff and associated stormwater nutrient and pollutant inputs from entering the sewer system.
