Autumn in New York

This autumn, why not view New York's famous fall foliage by visiting New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) reservoir lands.  DEP has opened up 75,000 acres for recreational activities including fishing, hiking, hunting, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and even ice fishing.  See spectacular views while learning about the creation of New York City's world class water supply. Two thousand square miles of pristine watershed territory from the Hudson Valley stretching west across the Catskills provides ample accommodations and fine restaurants.  You can visit a local dairy farm and learn how the City and watershed farmers have partnered to protect our natural resources or examine the ancient fossils of Gilboa - nearly 400 million years old, which tell the tale of a once tropical Catskills.  From orchards to ostrich farms, the New York City watershed offers a great getaway - all within a few hours drive from the metropolitan area.
