Installing the NYC DEP skill

  1. Enable the NYC DEP skill

    Download and open the Amazon Alexa app or go to Amazon.com. Select “Skills” and search for NYC DEP. Press “Enable.”

  2. Link your MyDEP Account

    Enter your MyDEP Account username and password. Wait until it redirects you to a confirmation page.

  3. Ask Alexa

    Now, you can ask Alexa about your water usage, balance, bills, and payments.


Frequently Asked Questions

How do I enable the NYC DEP skill for Amazon Alexa?

  • Open the Alexa app, tap “Skills” in the menu, and search for NYC DEP. Then, tap “Enable” and follow the prompts.
  • Enter your MyDEP Account credentials. Accept the terms and conditions.
  • Press “Login” and when your account is successfully paired, you’ll see a screen that says, “Your skill was successfully linked.”
  • You are now set up to use the NYC DEP skill across all of your Alexa-enabled devices.

What can Alexa tell me with the NYC DEP skill?

  • You can find out your water usage yesterday, last week, last month or on a specific date.
  • Just say “Alexa, ask NYC DEP, what was my water usage on December 14th?”
  • You can also find out when you made your last payment and how much it was, what your balance is this month or on a previous date, and when your bill is due.

I can’t sign into MyDEP Account.

  • It could be that your username and/or password isn’t correct. Double-check your username and password.
  • If you still can’t sign in, or if you forgot your username and/or password, visit nyc.gov/mydep to retrieve your information.
