Language Access Plan
In 2017, Local Law 30 (LL30) widened the City policy on language access. LL 30 mandates that all City agencies that provide direct public services create a language access implementation plan in order to ensure meaningful language access to their services. Along with increasing the list of citywide languages from six to ten, each agency’s most commonly distributed documents related to basic city services or communications need to incorporate plain language principles and design strategies.
DEP’s Language Access Coordinators are Sara Pecker, Director-Special Projects and Initiatives and Eileen Alter, Deputy Director, Special Projects and Initiatives.
