Meeting ambitious energy reduction targets requires a broad array of strategies, tactics and project mechanisms. DCAS Energy Management (DEM) works to improve the energy efficiency of municipal operations through a variety of programs and projects. Programs include competitively awarding capital and expense funding directly to agencies for shovel ready projects, cogeneration project management, energy audits and retro-commissioning in buildings over 50,000 square feet, emerging technologies, and measurement & verification (M&V). DEM has also implemented a wide variety of retrofit projects at City facilities by working directly with contractors and the Department of Design and Construction.
