The April 2013 releases of the GIS Zoning Features data set is now available on the Bytes of the Big Apple page of the DCP website. The date of the most recent City Council adoptions included in this data is 5/8/2013.

While representative of the information contained in DCP’s printed zoning maps and the New York City Zoning Resolution, this GIS data set is not intended to replace those maps or text, but to provide an additional source of zoning information for the general public’s use in digital mapping and analysis applications. The downloadable data will be updated on the last Monday of every month. Updated data will represent recent zoning changes adopted by the City Council.

The GIS Zoning Features data set is provided as a free download in ESRI Shapefile and file geodatabase formats. These are industry-standard GIS data formats, compatible with most GIS and CAD software, and also viewable using free GIS viewers like ESRI’s ArcGIS Explorer or Google Earth.

The April 2013 releases of the Sidewalk Cafes data set is now available on the Bytes of the Big Apple page of the DCP website. The date of the most recent City Council adoptions included in this data is 5/8/2013.

This line feature class is a spatial interpretation of the Sidewalk Café regulations in the New York City Zoning Resolution, Chapter 1, Article 4. The CafeType field indicates the types of Sidewalk Cafés that are permitted: All Cafés (includes Enclosed, Unenclosed, and Small);Unenclosed Only (includes Small);Small Only; and Not Permitted- for locations where the zoning district would normally permit, but some other zoning condition, like an elevated railway or special purpose district, prohibits a café.

Note: These features only indicate areas where certain cafes types should or should not be allowed according to zoning regulations. The Department of Consumer Affairs approval is always required for sidewalk cafes.

The date of the most recent City Council adoptions included in this data is 12/10/2012.

This line feature class is a spatial interpretation of the Sidewalk Café regulations in the New York City Zoning Resolution, Chapter 1, Article 4.
