Hearing Procedures |
On Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at 9:30 am, at Klitgord Auditorium, The New York City College of Technology, 285 Jay Street Brooklyn, New York (Show on map...), public hearings will be held by the City Planning Commission on:
- Canarsie Rezoning - land use application for a change to the zoning map (C 090313 ZMK submitted by the Department of City Planning.
- Brighton Beach Rezoning – land use applications for a zoning map change (C 090284 ZMK, and zoning text amendment (N 090285 ZRQ) submitted by the Department of City Planning.
- Coney Island Plan – land use applications for a change to the City Map (C 090107 MMK), a zoning map change (C 090272 ZMK), a zoning text amendment (N 090273 ZRK, N 090273(A) ZRK), acquisition of private property (C 090274 PQK, C 090275 PQK), UDAAP designation, plan and disposition (C 090276 HAK and disposition of city property (C 090277 PPK) and a related Draft Environmental Impact Statement (08DME07K) submitted by the departments of City Planning, Citywide Administrative Services, Housing Preservation and Development, and Parks and Recreation and the Economic Development Corporation.
THE CONEY ISLAND HEARING IS NOT LIKELY TO BEGIN BEFORE 11:00 am. On May 6, 2009, updates about the approximate starting time of the Coney Island hearing will be posted on this web site."
In order to ensure that all members of the public have the opportunity to testify, please abide by the following guidelines:
- If you wish to speak, you must fill out a speaker's slip that will be available at Klitgord Auditorium, The New York City College of Technology, 285 Jay Street Brooklyn, New York on Wednesday, May 6, 2009. Doors will open at 9 am.
- In accordance with the Commission's standard policy, elected officials will be called first. Testimony will then be taken in the order slips are submitted, alternating every 30 minutes between those speaking in support and those in opposition.
- All testimony must be limited to 3 minutes. Only members of the Commission may question speakers.
- So testimony can proceed smoothly, the chair will call several speakers at a time. Please listen for your name. When you hear your name called, proceed to the front row of the auditorium. Before you begin to speak, please identify yourself and the name of the organization you are representing. If you have any written testimony, please give it to the secretary.
- Please be courteous and allow all speakers to complete their testimony without interruption.
- If you do not wish to speak, you can mail your testimony to:

Written testimony on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the Coney Island Plan must be received no later than May 18, 2009. Comments should be sent to:

Other testimony can be submitted after May18, 2009, but we encourage you to submit that testimony as soon as possible.
