Community Working Group Meeting – March 7, 2013
Staff from the NYC Departments of City Planning and Transportation presented potential design scenarios for the Sheridan and Bruckner Expressways and related traffic analysis at a public meeting on Thursday, March 7, 2013. Three draft scenarios or options for redesigning the Sheridan Expressway were presented. These scenarios were the focus of traffic impact analysis conducted by NYCDOT. The results of this traffic impact analysis formed the bulk of the evening's discussion. Draft land use and transportation recommendations, which have been the focus of past meetings, were also available for review. No final recommendation has been developed for the Sheridan Expressway. This spring, public conversations will continue prior to a release of a final report.

Community Working Group Meeting – May 10, 2012
On Thursday, May 10th the Community Working Group (CWG) reviewed results of a traffic screening analysis performed by NYCDOT. The parameters for the screening analysis, which focused on macro-level traffic and community impacts, were discussed at the previous CWG meeting held on April 19th. This analysis produced important information about the implications of changes in traffic patterns if vehicles now using the Sheridan Expressway were rerouted. Screening analysis results showed that the removal of the Sheridan would create significant negative impacts to local street traffic and travel times; overloading key intersections and increasing the likelihood that trucks and other vehicles would be rerouted onto local roads. Other options for improving the South Bronx road network are still being considered and will be the focus of ongoing land use planning and additional traffic and economic impact analysis.
