The design firm of Thom and Wilson
produced many speculative rowhouses in the neighborhood
as the elevated railways opened Harlem to development. These
five houses from 1887-88 exhibit ornate details such as
the carved wooden doors and Moorish-style horseshoe arches.
Close examination of the masonry will reward the observer
with other delights such as fruits, birds, sea creatures
and winged griffins.
