On December 30, 2011, the New York City Department of City Planning, on behalf of the City Planning Commission as lead agency, issued a Notice of Completion for a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the NYU Core project.

A public hearing on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) was held on Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at 10:00 AM in the George Gustav Heye Center of the National Museum of the American Indian at the historic Alexander Hamilton U.S. Custom House located at One Bowling Green, New York, New York 10004.  Written comments on the DEIS were requested and were accepted by the Lead Agency until Monday, May 7, 2012.
