On July 2, 2008, a public hearing was held on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the proposed Hospital for Special Surgery Expansion. Comments were accepted at the hearing and until July 14, 2008.

The New York City Department of City Planning, on behalf of the City Planning Commission as lead agency, issued a Notice of Completion for a Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) for the proposed Hospital for Special Surgery Expansion on August 1, 2008.
