Expanded Cultural Resources
The plan would facilitate growth of the new BAM cultural
district centered around the Brooklyn Academy of Music
with a new Brooklyn public library of visual and performing
arts on Flatbush Avenue and a new theater on Lafayette
Avenue across from the BAM opera house. Other cultural,
residential and commercial projects involving a cross-section
of the surrounding community are planned for the district.
These new projects would improve the street-level experience
in the district and further integrate the cultural organizations
with Downtown Brooklyn.
