Working under the direction of the Program Director and Deputy Director, program interns are responsible for maintaining the image registry and assisting with the artist selection process. Maintenance of the image registry includes answering requests and soliciting new artists, processing artists' registration and assisting visitors who use the registry. Program interns are also responsible for assisting with the artist selection phase of new Percent for Art projects. This may include: writing community profiles, soliciting images from recommended artists, preparing image presentations, writing meeting minutes and preparing correspondence.
In addition, program interns may develop individual projects related to their specific interests. Past projects have included: policy options for artist housing, outreach to specialized artists and fabricators, maintenance and conservation reports on completed projects and developing a digital image policy for the agency.
Qualified individuals should have an interest in
contemporary art and a professional telephone manner, as well as good written
and oral communication skills. Applicable majors can include fine art, art
history, architecture, arts administration and urban affairs.
