On April 26, 2010, the Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) Division of Citywide EEO conducted a workshop titled, Understanding Statistical Data in CEEDS Reports and Exploring Future Areas for Development, to assist EEO Officers, Personnel Officers, and General Counsels in working collaboratively to analyze demographic and statistical data of their agencies’ workforce generated by the Citywide Equal Employment Database System (CEEDS). Forty-five representatives from 29 agencies attended the workshop.
The Division of Citywide EEO, as part of its responsibility under the Charter, the City’s EEO Policy, and federal laws, collects, maintains and analyzes data regarding the demographic composition of the City’s workforce, as well as applicants for civil service exams. This analysis is based partially on Census labor force data, which Citywide EEO has recently updated to reflect labor force data from the 2000 Census.
At the workshop, Citywide EEO provided a breakdown of the information in the CEEDS reports. Training exercises ensured that the participants analyzed their agency reports to identify any EEO issues and developed strategies to address them.
