M/WBE Program

DCAS is dedicated to increasing Supplier Diversity because it supports the City's commitment to encourage a competitive and diverse New York City business environment. A diverse supplier base helps spark innovation, strengthen engagement, and drives continuous improvement. We appreciate the many unique vendors and organizations that are part of DCAS’ network. Together, we are building a long-term, sustainable value for our agency and the agencies we serve while strengthening and supporting the economic base of local businesses.

The vital NYC Minority- and Women-Owned Business Enterprise program (M/WBE) is designed to promote City government contracting and subcontracting opportunities for businesses certified as minority- and women-owned with a real and substantial presence in New York City and surrounding counties. The program was created by Local Law 129 of 2005 and most recently expanded by Local Law 1 of 2013. To learn more about the benefits of New York City M/WBE certification and the process or to obtain the certification application, click on M/WBE Certification and Access.

To better promote the City’s certified vendors and to make it easy for both Prime Contractors and Agency Buyers to find them, the Department of Small Business Services (SBS) maintains an Online Directory of Certified Businesses, which includes a detailed profile of each company. Through inclusion in the directory, vendors can market their goods, services, and experience directly to purchasing agents who may not be familiar with their company.
