Local Law 129 of 2005 created the vital NYC Minority- and Women-Owned Business Enterprise program (M/WBE). The program is designed to promote City government contracting and subcontracting opportunities for businesses certified as minority- and women-owned with a real and substantial presence in New York City and surrounding counties. Upfront Capital Loan (NEW!)
DCAS is pleased to participate in a new service offered by the Department of Small Business Services, called Upfront Capital Loan, which provides short-term, working-capital for upfront expenses, such as insurance, labor and equipment, for M/WBEs and other experienced small businesses awarded contracts with City agencies. To better promote the City’s certified vendors and to make it easy for both Prime Contractors and Agency Buyers to find them, the Department of Small Business Services (SBS) maintains an Online Directory of Certified Businesses, which includes a detailed profile of each company. Through inclusion in the directory, vendors can market their goods, services, and experience directly to purchasing agents who may not be familiar with their company.
