The office building at 2 Lafayette Street, diagonally across from the Manhattan Municipal Building between Duane and Reade Streets, houses many City agencies, including the Department for the Aging.

The City assumed the title of the building in January 1981.

The Court Square Building falls within the African Burial Ground and the Commons Historic District.
