Most new applicants for a DCA license can complete the Basic License Application online using a fillable PDF file, then print a bar-coded form for scanning into our system once you arrive at the Licensing Center. Please alert Reception Staff that you have a bar-coded application form before getting your ticket for faster service.

Applicants for the following DCA licenses should print and complete by hand the Basic Individual License Application: Auctioneer; Bingo Game Operator and Commercial Lessor; Employment Agency Manager; Games of Chance; General Vendor; Home Improvement Salesperson; Horse-Drawn Cab Driver; Locksmith; Locksmith Apprentice; Motion Picture Operator; Pedicab Driver; Process Server-Individual; Reselling Tickets, Employee;  Sightseeing Guide; Street Fair Vendor - 30 Days; Tow Truck Driver.

Before you begin filling out the application, please read the License Application Checklist for your particular business category and print all required documents. Click here for the complete list of all DCA license categories. See below for more information.

As Easy as 1, 2, 3

1.  Click on the Basic License Application and type information in all required fields. For example, if you are a sole proprietor and check Yes at the top of Page 1, the form will require you to complete sections 1, 2, and 4. NOTE: You must use the latest version of Acrobat® Reader® software, available as a free download below, for the bar code to work.

2.  Print the form. You will not be able to print the form until you fill out all required fields. You also have the opportunity to save your form to your personal computer. NOTE: We do not recommend saving sensitive personal information to shared computers.

3.  Bring the bar-coded form, along with all required documents, to the DCA Licensing Center at 42 Broadway, 5th floor, in Manhattan between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and between 9:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Licensing Center staff will scan the contents of your bar-coded application form into our system.
