FREE TAX ASSISTANCE
CENTERS Tax Day was April 15, but it’s not too late to file to establish your eligibility for the Economic Stimulus Payment - or to claim the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)! If eligible for the EITC, you can file your taxes for three years back, as much as tripling a refund!
Citywide, there are several free, volunteer-run sites, where you can receive assistance if you need to file an amended return or if you received an extension to file. Certified volunteers at these sites are trained to help prepare basic federal and state tax returns and help filers claim special credits, like the EITC. The Internal Revenue Service manages several free, year-round Taxpayer Assistance Centers Citywide, as well. IRS sites can assist filers with federal returns only.
For guidance on whether your income and number of dependents qualify you for assistance at a particular site, please review the section marked Income Limits included in the information for each site. Hours during which a site is open may change. Please check this Web page for updates.
