Dear Friends:
It is a pleasure to welcome you to the New York City Commission on Women's Issues. Through our efforts, my administration continues to ensure that New York remains the city where women can fulfill personal and professional aspirations. Importantly, I have tasked the Commission with the responsibility of connecting New York City women and families with City services that support and address their needs.
The recent launch of the NYC Women's Resource Network is a great example of how the Commission is achieving this mission. This online resource for women and families in New York City will help to efficiently provide information New Yorkers need. It is another powerful example of how technology can help improve government services to strengthen the quality of life in our City. Of course, this Women's Resource Network would not have been possible were it not for the partnership of many other City agencies and the nonprofit community.
I am firmly committed to supporting a city government that reflects the diversity, spirit, talent and dedication of New York's population - and half of those eight million people are women. Under my administration, all agencies are required to fashion policies that respect this fact, so that women continue to be attracted to our great City.
The Commission's dedicated team, under the leadership of Chair Anne Sutherland Fuchs and Executive Director Briana Collins, has supported programs that remove barriers to women's full participation in all areas of their personal and work lives since the beginning of my administration. I look forward to continuing our work to unite everyone in the goal to empower women at all levels. Together we will ensure that women's voices are heard.
Sincerely,

Michael R. Bloomberg
Mayor
