Chair's Bio

ANNE SUTHERLAND FUCHS is an innovator with extensive branding experience within the media industry, responsible for some of the best known and most successful magazines - including Vogue, Elle, 'O', The Oprah Magazine, Marie Claire, Harper's Bazaar and Town and Country. As publisher of Woman's Day, Ms. Fuchs was the first female publisher of a major U.S. magazine. She was also the first female publisher of Vogue magazine. Ms. Fuchs is also the former CEO of Phillips, de Pury & Luxembourg, the premier auction house then owned by LVMH Moët Hennesey Louis Vuitton. Before Phillips, she was with leading publishing companies such as Hearst, Condé Nast, Hachette, and CBS. Ms. Fuchs has received recognition and numerous awards including the Matrix Award for Magazines by Women of Communications and Advertising Woman of the Year. She created and chaired the Magazine and Print Committee for the United States Information Agency. Also, she formed the first Woman's Board of the Madison Square Boys and Girls Club, serving as President, then Chair. Having served as a trustee of the Whitney Museum, she is a member of the Chairman's Council of the Museum. In addition, she is on the Board of Directors of Pitney Bowes Inc., and Gartner, Inc., the world's leading IT Research Company. Graduating from New York University (BA- French Literature), she received the Peabody Scholar Award at Western College. She also studied at the Sorbonne, Institute of European Studies (Paris) and the University of Mexico City, Institute of North American Studies (Mexico).
