The Civil Service Commission ("CSC") is an independent,
"quasi-judicial" agency authorized under Chapter 35, §813 of the New York City
Charter, to hear and decide appeals from determinations made under §50 and §76
of the New York State Civil Service Law. Additionally, the CSC will
determine appeals under §72 of the New York State Civil Service Law only when
specifically asked to do so by the Department of Citywide Administrative
Services ("DCAS").
