Take the Interactive Ethics Quiz to learn and review conflicts of interest law basics.

Training in the requirements of the Conflicts of Interest Law, which is essential for all public servants and vendors seeking to do business with the city, is available at no cost for employees of any agency that requests it. A member of COIB's Training and Education Unit will gladly travel to your agency to conduct informative and entertaining classes for staff at any level. Classes are always tailored to be as relevant as possible to the specific employees receiving training, and your agency's ethics rules will be incorporated into the materials and discussion.

An increasing number of agencies have expressed interest in conducting their own Ethics training for employees. Agencies that have taken this on have performed a significant service not only for staff but for the public they serve. COIB's Training and Education Unit is happy to serve as a "one-stop-shopping" consultant to any agency interested in conducting their own training; we can provide support in the areas of legal content, training technology, course materials, and feedback on instructor performance.

The Conflicts of Interest Board also offers Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits to City attorneys at no charge. Our general course, "What Every Attorney Should Know About New York City's Conflicts of Interest Law," is good for two (2) credit hours in Ethics and Professionalism. Additionally, we offer "Special Topics" classes in Chapter 68 Enforcement (2 credit hours), Gifts (1.5 creidt hours), Fundraising (1.5 credit hours), and Post-Employment (1.5 credit hours). All are accreditted by the State CLE Board and are open to both transitional and non-transitional attorneys. CLE classes are offered in cooperation with other City agencies; speak to your General Counsel’s office about setting up CLE training at your agency today.
