|  In 2004, Mayor Bloomberg launched the Impact School Initiative to reduce school violence and disorder and create safer learning environments. Since then, CJC has worked with both the NYPD and the Department of Education to identify schools with the highest concentrations of violent and serious offenses and to implement strategies designed to reduce crime in schools. The efforts have led to a drop in violent crime in New York City schools of 42% and a drop of major crime in New York City school of 34% between the 2003-04 and 2009-10 school years. | |
