COMPUTER SERVICE TECHNICIAN
Level II

Level II - full-time per diem
New to the city rate: $18.95/hour
Upon completion of two years of employment, the rate will increase to $21.79/hour
Incumbent rate for City employees with 2 or more years with the City $21.79/hour

The CCRB is seeking to hire one Computer Service Technician Level II who will perform desktop support, application support, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of desktop PCs, network print devices, and network hardware. Perform setup and roll-out of equipment issued to new users. May assist in complex troubleshooting and repair activities. May also assist the Director of MIS in providing staff with computer training and other related work.

The following skills are required:

  • Hardware setup and troubleshooting
  • Thorough knowledge of Acronis Image server
  • of Novell NetWare 5.0 and Windows Server 2003 R2, x32 Ed
  • Knowledge of desktop Windows environment, including Windows 2000, and XP Professional Operating systems, as well as Microsoft networking
  • Knowledge of common desktop applications, eg. Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge with general networking theory & networking hardware: switches, hubs, wireless technologies
  • A+ certification highly desired
  • Mac knowledge a plus.

A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and one year of satisfactory, full-time experience in computer maintenance and repair; or education and or experience equivalent to "1" above is required. Graduation from a certified technical training program in computer maintenance and repair may be substituted for the one year of experience.

New York City residency is required within 90 days of appointment.
