If you have a complaint concerning police corruption, if possible you should include the following information in your communication:
  • The date, time, and exact location of the incident
  • The officer's name, badge number, or physical description
  • Your day and evening telephone numbers so that you can be contacted at a later time

Please be aware that the Commission does not, absent extraordinary circumstances, handle investigations itself. Complaints received by the Commission to Combat Police Corruption are, when appropriate, forwarded to the NYPD's Internal Affairs Bureau for review and investigation. In some instances, the Commission monitors complaints that have been forwarded to the Internal Affairs Bureau.

To make a complaint directly to the NYPD's Internal Affairs Bureau's 24-hour Complaint Center, please call (212) 741-8401.

If your complaint involves physical force, abuse of authority, discourtesy, or offensive language by a member of the NYPD, you may wish to contact the New York City Civilian Complaint Review Board's complaint hotline at (800) 341-CCRB (800-341-2272).
