The Right to Work: Understanding Immigrant Employment Rights

The Commission developed a two-part adult  literacy curriculum for ESOL classes (English for Speakers of Other Languages) entitled The Right To Work: Understanding Immigrant Employment Rights for  Beginner/Intermediate and Advanced level students. The lessons are delivered in ESOL classes at public libraries, community colleges, and workforce development agencies reaching individuals  who may  experience employment discrimination due to their national origin or citizenship status. Adult literacy students learn about recognizing discrimination while  improving their language proficiency -- essential for job acquisition, retention, and advancement.

The student and teacher workbooks and DVD can be downloaded online (in PDF). The teacher workbooks contain lesson plans, completed exercises, and supplemental materials.
