"ONE CITY" CAMPAIGN HITS EVERY CITY STREET |
As part of an aggressive anti-discrimination campaign, the Commission launched a poster campaign in November 2005 at bus-shelters and phone kiosks throughout the City - sending a message of welcome and unity and informing viewers on how to file a discrimination complaint. The campaign ran from November 2005 through February 2006 and again in June 2006 when it was reprinted as a multi-lingual poster. Depending on the month and number of posters hung, 2.2 to 4.5 million New Yorkers and visitors viewed the One City campaign on a daily basis.
In August 2006, the Commission kicked off the second phase of the campaign displaying its multi-lingual One City poster on all 3,000 NYC Sanitation trucks and street sweepers. These trucks and sweepers cover 6,300 “curb miles” of streets in New York City, literally every City block.
In September 2006, the Commission will increase its efforts – distributing 11” x 17” multi-lingual One City posters to City schools, churches and offices. Posters are available by calling 311.
