| AD CAMPAIGN SEEN BY MILLIONS |
In November 2005, NYC Human Rights Commissioner/Chair Patricia L. Gatling launched a citywide public awareness campaign celebrating the City’s rich cultural diversity and international populations as part of the Commission’s 50th Anniversary educational efforts. The campaign is another key element in CCHR’s intense efforts to alert those who live, work and visit here to the Commission’s work, the Human Rights Law and how to file a discrimination complaint. The campaign reinforces the message of the City’s rich diversity, spirit of unity, and long-standing history of tolerance and inclusion.
The posters - From Many Countries, One City - were prominently displayed throughout the City at 80 bus shelters and 110 telephone kiosks in November and December. That number grew to 140 bus shelters and 41 telephone kiosks in January and February 2006 where an estimated 4.5 million people viewed the posters on a daily basis. In late May 2006, the campaign returned and the new multi-lingual posters hung at 80 bus shelters and 50 phone kiosks throughout the City. NYC Marketing, a local development corporation created by Mayor Bloomberg, assisted with the campaign.
