Libraries & Cultural Affairs

Mission Statement

Community life is enriched through access to excellent libraries and through the efforts of a wide spectrum of local cultural organizations and programs. The mission of the Libraries and Cultural Affairs Committee is to increase community awareness of these assets. We seek opportunities to include the arts in community facilities and public spaces and to support and encourage city and state cultural programs that impact our area. Our focus on libraries is to work with the New York Public Library (NYPL) to deliver high quality services through our local branches to meet the diverse needs of all segments of our community. We will advocate priority status for budget requests that are consistent with improved services. We will monitor levels of service, welcome feedback from patrons, and enhance communication on behalf of the community with NYPL leadership.
