Hildy J. Simmons, Chair
Hildy J. Simmons is an independent
consultant advising select clients on their philanthropic activities. She
retired in October 2003 as a Managing Director and head of the Global
Foundations Group at J.P. Morgan Private Bank. From 1990 through 2001, Ms.
Simmons was responsible for J.P. Morgan’s corporate philanthropy program. A
former NYC Urban Fellow, she previously held positions in the NY State
Department of Correctional Services, and the NYC Department of Juvenile Justice.
Ms. Simmons has a MPA from the Kennedy School of Government and a BA from Lake
Erie College.
Michael J. Regan, Vice-Chair
Michael J. Regan is a Managing Director at JPMorgan Chase. He
heads the Global Security & Investigations Department. Regan is responsible for Security, Due Diligence, Pre-Employment Screening and Fraud Investigations at JPMorgan Chase Prior to joining JPMorgan Chase, Regan served as First Deputy Commissioner for the New York City Fire Department, and as Director of Communication to former Council Speaker Peter Vallone. He previously worked ten years at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey as a senior member of the World Trade Department which managed the World Trade Center.
Catherine M. Abate, Esq.
Catherine
M. Abate is President and CEO of Community Healthcare Network (CHN), which
provides community-based primary care, mental health, and social services to
diverse populations in underserved communities. Ms. Abate served as a New
York State Senator from 1994-1998. A former chair of the New York State
Crime Victims Board and Executive Deputy Commissioner of the State Division of
Human Rights, Ms. Abate served as New York City Probation Commissioner, and was
the City’s Corrections Commissioner from 1992-94. Ms. Abate is a graduate
of Vassar College and Boston University Law School.
Pamela S. Brier
Pamela Brier is the President and Chief Executive Officer of
Maimonides Medical Center, a 705-bed major teaching hospital. Ms. Brier’s career
includes several senior positions in the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation, including that of Chief Executive Officer of Jacobi Medical Center and of Bellevue Hospital Center, two of the largest public hospitals in New York City. While at HHC, she worked extensively on correctional health issues. In 2003, she was appointed by Mayor Bloomberg to serve on New York City’s Board of Health. She serves on the City’s Workforce Investment Board and is currently a Board member of the UNITE HERE/Union Health Center.
Robert L. Cohen, M.D.
Bobby Cohen is
a physician in practice in Manhattan. Dr. Cohen worked on Rikers Island as
the Director of the Montefiore Rikers Island Health Services, served as the Vice
President for Medical Operations of the NYC Health and Hospitals Corporation,
and as the Director of the AIDS Center at St. Vincent’s Hospital. He has
served as a Federal Court appointed monitor overseeing medical care for
prisoners in Florida, Ohio, New York State, Michigan, and Connecticut. He
represents the American Public Health Association on the National Commission for
Correctional Health Care. Dr. Cohen received his undergraduate degree from
Princeton, his MD from Rush Medical College in Chicago, and trained in Internal
Medicine at Cook County Hospital.
Stanley Kreitman
Stanley Kreitman is Senior Advisor to Signature
Bank. He serves on the Boards of the North Shore-LIJ Health System, Medallion Financial Corp., CCA Industries,
KSW Mechanical Corp., Geneva Mortgage Corp., Century Bank, Capital Lease Finance
Corp., the Police Athletic League, New York Police Foundation, and Crime Stoppers of Nassau County. A recipient of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor and Yeshiva University’s Metropolitan Award for Distinguished Leadership in Higher Education, Mr. Kreitman is also an author whose articles have appeared in American Banker, Real Estate Investor, REIT Analysis Journal and National Real Estate Investor. He holds a Masters degree from the New York University School of Business and an honorary Doctorate of Law from the New York Institute of Technology.
Rosemarie Maldonado, Esq.
Rosemarie Maldonado was appointed Counsel to the President at John Jay College of Criminal Justice by President Jeremy Travis in December 2004. Prior to her appointment, Ms. Maldonado had served as the Chief Administrative Law Judge at the New York City Human Rights Commission and as an Administrative Law Judge for the New York City Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings (OATH). Ms. Maldonado also has served as Chief of Staff for the NYC Human Resources Administration, as a lawyer at the Corporation Counsel’s Office, and as Deputy Executive Director of the Mayor’s Commission on Hispanic Concerns. She was a deputy to President Travis when he was Special Advisor to Mayor Edward I. Koch. Ms. Maldonado received her B.A. from Yale College and her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
Alexander Rovt
Alexander Rovt is the President of IBE Trade Corporation, an American company engaged in the production, sales and marketing of agricultural fertilizers throughout the world. A native of Ukraine, Mr. Rovt held positions relating to food and agriculture in the Republic of Hungary before coming to the United States in 1985. He is a Trustee of Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center and a Member of the Small Business Advisory Board of the New York State Senate. He earned the equivalent of a Masters in Business Administration from the Lviv Business School in Ukraine.
Milton A. Williams, Jr., Esq.
Milt Williams is a partner at Vladeck,
Waldman, Elias & Engelhard, P.C., where he specializes in employment,
entertainment and sports law. From 1997 to 2008, he was Deputy General Counsel and the Chief Compliance Officer at Time Inc. Before coming to Time, he was in private practice, and served as Assistant U.S. Attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, and was an Assistant District Attorney in the New York County District Attorney’s Office. Mr. Williams is a graduate of Amherst College and the University of Michigan Law School.
