Brooklyn Community Board 2 is one of 59 geographically exclusive, independent City agencies that serve as the most local form of representative government. The community board consists of 50 volunteers, supported by a small paid staff. Brooklyn Community District 2 consists of Downtown Brooklyn, the residential and mixed use neighborhoods around it and the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Community boards are responsible principally for local review of land use and other applications, budget allocations and municipal service delivery. New Website Community Board 2 was pleased to launch its new website in February. The community board is grateful to the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications for hosting the site and its generous production assistance.
New and Pending BIDs The FAB Alliance, a business improvement district (BID) signed into law by Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg in December 2008, is fully operational.
