Committees

Article X, Section 9 of the by-laws of Community Board 2 establishes seven standing committees. The Budget Committee, composed of the budget coordinator and the standing committee chairpersons, is created by Article IX. The Executive Committee—consisting of the elected officers, the appointed chairpersons of the standing committees and the budget coordinator—is established in Article XVII.

Most of the discussion and work of Community Board 2 is done in committee. Any and all issues related to the welfare of the district are relevant. Committees research issues, develop goals, plan activities, conduct public hearings and present their findings and recommendations to the full board. (In some cases, immediate deadlines require committee recommendations to be taken up instead by the Executive Committee.) Topics on committee agendas may originate at the request of an applicant or constituent, from the district office, at a monthly general meeting or within the committee itself.

Pursuant to the New York State Open Meetings Law, committee meetings are open to the public and full and accurate minutes must be taken, the same as board meetings.
