Every commercial establishment in New York City is required by law to have its waste removed by a carting company licensed by BIC or to obtain a registration from BIC to haul its own waste.
There are over active 200 carters licensed by BIC that can legally collect waste from commercial establishments in New York City. Before deciding on a carter, BIC strongly recommends that you obtain price quotes from several different companies. BIC has a list of licensed carters permitted to collect waste from commercial establishments in New York City. You can also learn which carters are currently servicing your neighborhood by looking at BIC decals posted on storefronts. You are not limited to those carters. You may choose any licensed carter to haul your waste. A commercial establishment using a carter must prominently display a BIC decal identifying the carter, which is provided by the carter free of charge. Unless permitted by BIC, a carter cannot refuse to service a business if it already services another customer located within 10-block area.
In addition, there are close to 700 carting companies registered by BIC that can collect solely waste materials resulting from building demolition, construction, alteration or excavation.
