The Design Commission reviews permanent structures, both public and private, as well as works of art that are proposed on or over City-owned property, including property that is leased by the City to another entity. Structures include, but are not limited to, buildings, such as museums and libraries; bridges and other infrastructure projects; parks and playgrounds; and lighting and other streetscape elements, including distinctive sidewalks, bollards, and newsstands. Each design proposal-whether art, architecture and bridges, or landscape architecture-has general and specific submission requirements. Additional information may be requested. All projects must be listed on the appropriate agency transmittal, and all submission materials must be submitted by the deadline for projects to be calendared.
