Kandace V. Simmons was appointed by Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg to serve as his representative on the Public Design Commission of the City of New York. As president of Simmons+Associates, Kandace provides real estate project management, architectural and zoning consulting services to nonprofit organizations, architects and private developers. She is also the director of investment sales at E.L. Martin Partners where she specializes in office and retail leasing as well as investment sales. Previously, Kandace led Simmons Design Group, the successor to Simmons Architects founded by her father in 1969, and was a senior policy analyst at the New York City Department of General Services where she created and implemented a plan for bringing City-owned office buildings into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Kandace holds a certificate in Real Estate Finance & Investment from New York University and is a New York State licensed real estate broker. She is a graduate of Yale University and studied architecture at Pratt Institute.
